Bad Day to be a Judge in Washington

OLYMPIA -- A judge accused of belittling people in her courtroom and threatening to rule against them simply for annoying her was reprimanded yesterday by the state Commission on Judicial Conduct.

King County District Court Judge Judith Eiler expressed remorse for her unprofessional behavior, agreeing to take ethics and behavioral training that focuses on sensitivity, according to the commission. . . .

[A]lso yesterday, the commission censured former Orting Municipal Court Judge Jeffrey Day, who was convicted by a jury in October of molesting an 11-year-old boy.

Day, who maintained his innocence, resigned as judge and agreed not to seek any judicial position without first getting the commission's approval.
