Driver Faces 4 Years in Case That Began With Running a Stop Sign

A $215 ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign in Redwood City could mean up to four years in state prison for Andrew Bamberg.

A San Mateo County Superior Court jury deliberated for less than two hours Friday before convicting Bamberg of three felonies -- two counts of perjury and one of preparing false evidence -- after he allegedly replaced street signs and took photos of another intersection to dodge a traffic infraction.

Bamberg, 42, was accused of trying to deceive the traffic magistrate by presenting photographs in court from a different intersection, and then lying about the photos in separate proceedings. He was also convicted of a misdemeanor charge for destroying or concealing evidence after failing to bring the original photos back to court.

Nice move, jackass. Details here from the San Francisco Chronicle.
