Collector Demands Completion Of Deal On Renoir Trove

GREENBELT, MD. (CN) � A man who got a tremendous deal when an auction house accepted his offer of $135,000 for a massive collection of "personal artifacts and archives of " is suing the Marie-Paule Renoir Trust, which refuses to go through with the sale. The collection includes �Renoir�s birth and marriage certificates, funeral and burial receipts, letters to his wife and sons, personal artifacts, family photograph albums, personal financial documents, correspondence from contemporary artists, notable figures and agents � watercolors and drawings, hundreds of vintage glass plate negatives depicting Renoir, his family, friends and models posed in landscapes for paintings, copper lithographic plates of Renoir works, ceramics made at Les Collettes, and a massive archives collection.� Plaintiff Charles Slane claims in Federal Court that Hantman�s Auctioneers and Appraisers of Rockville accepted his offer on behalf of the Renoir Trust, and must go through with it.
