Biz Buzz: Today's Lawsuit Brought to You by the Letter 'R'

General Motors is fighting with a Chinese car company, but not about auto sales. This dispute is about a letter. The letter "r," to be specific.

GM lawyers told Chery Automobile of China they will fight its plans to export cars to the United States by 2007. The reason: Chery sounds too similar to Chevy, the nickname for Chevrolets sold by GM dealers.

Malcolm Bricklin runs Visionary Vehicles, which plans to bring Chinese cars to this country. He told trade publication Automotive News that GM's claim is unfounded. The world's biggest auto maker is trying to "make up for their declining sales and unimaginative product line," he said.
