Judge Donald Thompson, our favorite penis-pumping judge, is back in the news:
SAPULPA, Okla., Jan. 27 - With 10 years in the Oklahoma Legislature and nearly 23 years on the state bench, Donald D. Thompson was often regarded as the most powerful man in Creek County, a senior trial court judge with statewide honors who presided over a full docket from civil lawsuits up to death penalty cases.
But in the latest chapter of a fall from grace that has stunned and divided his law colleagues and neighbors in this traditional county seat on the southern outskirts of Tulsa, Mr. Thompson, 58, ousted last year, has become a criminal defendant, charged with three felony counts of indecent exposure on the bench.
Now Oklahoma's top justice official said he expected defense lawyers to review Mr. Thompson's closed cases for appeals that could cite his conduct as grounds for error.
"I do think appellate lawyers would be taking a look - I would," said the state's attorney general, W. A. Drew Edmondson, who petitioned for Mr. Thompson's removal for "moral turpitude" last year.
