SHANGHAI, China (AP) - Two U.S. citizens accused of selling almost $1 million worth of pirated movies online are on trial with two alleged Chinese accomplices, officials said Tuesday.
News reports identified the Americans as Randolph Hobson Guthrie, 38, and Abram Cody Thrush, and said each could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
U.S. Consulate officials refused comment.
The trial comes as China steps up enforcement of laws against rampant bootlegging of DVDs, CDs and other intellectual property, under pressure from the United States and other trading partners.
