Ohio Supreme Court Suspends Judge

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Supreme Court has suspended Court of Common Pleas Judge Deborah O'Neill for two years for violating the code of professional responsibility, NBC 4's Nancy Burton reported.

One year of the suspension could be stayed, Burton reported. The suspension is effective immediately.

During the year, the Supreme Court justices recommended that O'Neill undergo a mental health and psychiatric counseling and that she must accept any treatment that is recommended. . . .

A majority of the Supreme Court justices concluded that O'Neill's behavior was not "patient, dignified or courteous." The decision stated, "a pattern of misconduct has been established and that pattern is motivated by a selfish motive."

Meanwhile, O'Neill is running in an election for a spot on the court of appeal. Details here, or read the court's opinion.
