In an unusually harsh 57 page opinion, California's Third District Court of Appeal excoriated former attorney Richard H. Dangler today over three Habeas Corpus petitions he filed. The court describes the petitions as frivolous, contemptuous, and having "absolutely no chance of success."
Dangler, who voluntarily resigned his bar membership with disciplinary charges pending while these petitions were under consideration, was sanctioned $25,000 and ordered to refund the $7,250 retainer his clients paid him to file each of the three petitions under review. Ouch!
