Appeals Court Allows Nude Dance on Web

A federal appeals court has lifted an order that blocked Internet sites from showing images of a TV newswoman dancing naked during a wet T-shirt contest at a Key West, Fla., bar.

Catherine Bosley resigned in January from WKBN-TV in Youngstown after images and video of her vacation performance last March began showing up on the Web.

A federal judge barred at least 20 Web sites from exhibiting her image or name. But the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Thursday that the order raised "serious constitutional issues" because it restrained free speech.

Bosley, who won $250 in a tie for first place in the contest, said she had not given anyone permission to use her picture. She testified that she would not have participated in the dance if she knew pictures would turn up on the Web.
