Jury Convicts Judge of Molesting Child

TACOMA, Wash. -- A jury has convicted Orting Municipal Court Judge Jeffrey Day of first-degree child molestation for fondling an 11-year-old boy who was a former client.

The jury believed the boy's word over Day's account in its decision Thursday.

Day, a Puyallup attorney, also served as a substitute judge in Pierce County Superior Court and as public defender for the city of Sumner. He also led the percussion section of Everett's Cascade High School band.

The boy testified that Day put his hand inside the boy's boxer shorts while he slept at Day's home Feb. 15.
