The mayor of the Riverside County, California town of Chino is contemplating suing FOX for libel or slander over the TV show "The O.C." because the show portrays Chino as "white trash." As Eugene Volokh points out, if filed, this case would easily win the "LOSER LAWSUIT OF THE DAY" award.
(Among other problems, Chino would have to prove that at least one viewer had actually watched FOX's new program, which might be difficult. . . .)
