The lawyer, Robert W. Hayes, was defending middleweight boxing champion Bernard Hopkins in a libel case when he got caught by the judge using selectively-redacted documents to knowingly mislead the court and the jury. Hayes "'engaged in multiple layers of improper and inappropriate conduct' in the course of the trial, Southern District [N.Y.] Judge Denny Chin wrote in his decision in Dibella v. Hopkins, 01-11779." The judge referred the matter to a federal disciplinary committee.
I would not even note this minor event except for one thing: Attorney Robert W. Hayes happens to be the co-chair of commercial litigation at Philadelphia's Cozen O'Connor, a 476 lawyer firm. That makes it worth reporting. Details here from New York Lawyer.
